Are you using the AAUW Action Network?

The AAUW Action network is a way for members to voice their support for equity issues to help women and girls. The AAUW’s Action Alerts highlight important legislation and other issues that are related to the AAUW’s mission. You can use their “Two-Minute Activist” tools to learn about the issues and send a quick email to your senators and representatives, or if you have more time, do your own research to compose and send a letter to your elected officials and local media outlets.

actionnetworkIn August, AAUW asked members to contact members of Congress and ask them to bring the Paycheck Fairness Act to a vote and to support its passage. Another asked members to send a message to members of President Obama’s Commission on Fiscal and Financial Reform to let them know that cutting Social Security benefits is an unacceptable way to balance the budget.

In addition to participating in Action Alerts, the Action Network site allows you to look up contact information for your elected officials and local media outlets, find out more about candidates and issues on the ballot in your area, track legislation related to the AAUW mission, and even print a voter registration form. You can also send information to concerned friends and family members.

With important midterm elections coming up in November, now is the time to make sure your voice is heard and your vote is counted. Visit the AAUW Action Network site today.
