On Jan. 21, 2011, AAUW LAF announced it is awarding monetary support to the case Dukes v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Plaintiffs for the case are a class of approximately 1.6 million female Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club employees.
Wal-Mart appealed the motion for this “class” certification three times, and three times it was affirmed. Wal-Mart has appealed again, this time to the U.S. Supreme Court. If the court affirms the class certification, the case will become the largest civil rights class action suit in U.S. History.
AAUW is proud to lend support to this case.
