As the year comes to a close, this Holiday season we give thanks for the many opportunities and advancements for women and girls during 2013. We are proud that AAUW led the fight that resulted in President Obama’s signing into law a comprehensive VAWA (Violence against Women Reauthorization Act). Also we are proud that the Equal Pay Act was elevated in the President’s inaugural and state of the union speeches. Women still earn only seventy-seven cents to every dollar earned by men, however. So we look forward to continuing our efforts in 2014 and increasing this figure.
